Many people believe that tears equal weakness , and that’s why it still feels awkward when one sheds them in front of someone else . We still bolt the doors behind our sadness and stuff our mouths with pillows , so no one can hear us while we moan . In macho societies , they still consider the act of crying as totally effeminate and that only females are allowed to have watery eyes, when they feel like crying . That’s why , when a man breaks down in tears , he becomes the subject of everybody’s jokes . Even after scientific researches proved the psychological benefits of crying , it still doesn’t appeal to a man the idea of him letting these salty drops roll down his cheeks . While watching my favorite Syrian show , I came across this sentence ; " It’s a shame for a man to cry ; and when he does , it’s a shame for him to tell " . As weird as it may sound , but when you think about it , you can’t blame the character for what he said . He’s not the one who came up with this rule . So , let’s face it ; We can’t change what’s been rooted in our minds for ages . And y’all need to deprive yourselves of releasing the pain , just because you need to keep your heads up , even when your hearts are aching
